Home Remedies: Teeth Whitening

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

Although everybody wants whiter teeth, lots of people loathe going to the dentist. Until not so long ago, the only way to get your teeth whitened quickly was to visit the dentist, so a lot of appointments were missed and the teeth whitening sessions were postponed, often indefinitely. In fact, professional teeth whitening does not involve drills, but then a lot of people are ignorant of the whitening process.

When the manufacturers of teeth whitening products realized this fact, they began making home remedies for teeth whitening. Not only did home remedies remove the fear of the dentist’s chair, but it meant that you could undertake your teeth whitening sessions at your leisure. Home remedies are also a great deal less expensive than a visit to the dentist’s. The fact is that the principal cost of professional teeth whitening is the dentist’s time.

If you go down the home remedies’ route, there are two branches you could travel. There are the manufacturers who make bleaching products and there are the original home remedies, which were used many years before chemical whiteners in bottles and tubes became obtainable.

The traditional methods do work and also use fewer ‘chemicals’ that shop-bought. The only thing with home remedies is that they are less powerful, so they have to be put on more often and on a continual basis, say weekly or semi-weekly. Here are a few traditional home remedies for teeth whitening you can try:

Bicarbonate of Soda and Water: bicarbonate of soda can be bought in practically all food shops. Mix some bicarb with a half a tumbler of water and gargle with it, keeping the liquid in touch with your teeth as much and for as long as possible. This should remove a lot of the staining, leaving your teeth cleaner and whiter.

Lemon Juice and Salt: this mixture should be brushed onto the teeth and left to soak a while. Following this procedure for several minutes, twice a week will remove yellow staining on teeth, but it is not a quick fix, you have to keep at it, just as with all home remedies.

Bay Leaves And Dried Orange Peel: powder the two ingredients and brush them onto your teeth. If you feel it is too dry, you could mix the powder in with your normal tooth paste and leave it in place for a minute or two.

Orange Peel Pith: scrape the pith from the inside of an orange and rub it on your teeth, it will remove light staining and more with regular use.

The bottom line with all home remedies for teeth whitening is that they take effect over time. They do not work over night, because they do not include harsh chemicals, which many people see as a plus point.

Apart from these home remedies for teeth whitening being chemical free, they are also very cheap, if not free. Consequently, you can try them and if they do not work quickly enough for you, you have lost nothing, but a little time. These home remedies for teeth whitening do not have any side effects, unlike shop bought products.

The Opalescence Teeth Whitening System: Some Facts

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

Most people consider it important to take good care of their teeth because they do not want to have cavities and they realize how important theeth are for creating a favourable first impression. People remember meeting someone with a lovely smile more readily and for longer. However, there are also people who rely on having a good smile to keep their job. The Opalescence teeth whitening system was made for people who want to have a great smile

There are really four different Opalescence teeth whitening systems: one for use at the dentist’s; one for use at home; a travelling kit and a maintenance kit. The most popular Opalescence teeth whitening system is the take home, DIY kit. A lot of people just do not have the time or the desire to spend an hour at the dentist’s. To say nothing of the expense. It often costs between $500 and $2,000 for a teeth whitening session at an oral hygienist’s office.

The DIY Opalescence teeth whitening system is a good alternative to this, because it costs less than $50 and can be done any time you like, at home and without guidance, despite the fact that it is a full-strength, professional grade tooth whitening system.

Most professional teeth bleaching products ‘require’ the use of a laser to activate the gel, but Opalescence was the first that said that the laser was optional. Recent studies have implied that the laser stimulator was unnecessary. It seems that calling it a laser was more to do with selling than the truth. Most so-called lasers were nothing more than intense lights.

This makes the DIY Opalescence teeth whitening system a much cheaper way of obtaining the same results, because most of the cost of professional teeth whitening is the dentist’s hourly labour charge. In fact, it outweighs the cost of the whitening gel by hundreds and hundreds of dollars.

So, you have two alternatives, if you use the Opalescence teeth whitening systems: professional or DIY, but there is also a hybrid. You see, the Opalescence teeth whitening system works in trays and you can either use off-the-shelf trays or you can have your dentist make the trays to fit your teeth perfectly. Then you can take them home for use later.

After using Opalescence teeth whitener there is little chance of you suffering the side effects that are sometimes associated with other products. Opalescence contains ingredients to minimize making your teeth vulnerable to cavities and sensitivity. Therefore, you should not have problems eating hot or cold food as a number of people do.

All teeth whitening is an on-going process. You cannot just go to the dentist, have your teeth whitened and forget about them. Similarly with DIY teeth whitening. You will have to whiten every month or even more often and you will have to brush at least two times a day. You should also gargle with an antiseptic mouthwash that can cope with plaque. And lastly, gargling with water after drinking red wine, black tea or black coffee will assist your Opalescence teeth whitening system to do a fantastic job for longer.

Male Nose Jobs

Friday, March 4th, 2011

In recent years, advancements in science and technology caused many plastic surgery procedures to have a higher success rate and to have costs lower than ever. This enabled a lot more people to get the procedure for themselves, and have even in fact changed the way people thought about plastic surgery in general. This is why these days, even men, who were previously not thought of as people who get plastic surgery done, get procedures like rhinoplasty for men without hesitation.

In truth, there is not really anything different between rhinoplasty for males, and what we know as normal or traditional rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty for males is different from traditional rhinoplasty, however, because of the cosmetic and aesthetic styles that the surgeons employ to improve the appearance of the patient. These cosmetic and aesthetic changes are, unlike that of traditional rhinoplasty, designed specifically to improve the appearance of men.

Women, for example, may choose to make the nostrils smaller, the nose bridge narrower, or just make the whole nose look smaller and feminine. Whereas men may want their noses to be larger and more pronounced, have more chiseled angles, and more. These are the aesthetic differences that make rhinoplasty for males different.

Regardless of traditional rhinoplasty or rhinoplasty for males, however, patients should always make sure to consult with their surgeons first before deciding. Consultations allow the surgeons enough time to explain to the patient what may potentially happen with the surgery, and may even give the patient a very good idea what the end result may be. Consultations also give the doctor and patient the opportunity to cover all the bases, and reduce any possible complications that may result in having a revision rhinoplasty done.

Once the consultation is complete, the procedure can be done, a process that may be between 45 minutes to a few hours. Patients who undergo rhinoplasty should make sure to follow all the necessary instructions and precautions given by the doctor. Not only will this make the patient feel more comfortable and safe, but also ensure that the recovery procedure goes as planned, and the end results are not compromised.

Do I Have Sensitive Skin Care?

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

If you have sensitive skin, you will already be aware of the fact that it can make your life rather difficult. Climate has an effect on sensitive skin and so on your sensitive skin care regimen. One of the first things you should do is avoid most commercial cosmetic products, because they contain harsh chemicals. However, there are people with sensitive skin who do not know it yet, so how can you know if you have sensitive skin?

Some of the most obvious indications are when:

you get skin problems when you shave; the weather can have an effect on your skin; you get skin irritations for no apparent reason; some soaps and detergents irritate your skin; you have to be very discerning when choosing cosmetics.

Extreme weather conditions will make skin care more difficult for everyone, but particularly if you have sensitive skin. The first step to take is to try products labeled ‘For Sensitive Skin’. It is a good principle to keep notes on each sensitive skin care product you buy and try. Your notes should include information such as product name, constituents, weather conditions, temperature and your skin’s response to it.

Thin skin is the main cause of sensitive skin. Skin is thicker on some parts of our bodies than other parts, but skin also tends to get thinner as we get older. The reason that thin skin is more sensitive is that the deeper layers of skin have less protection from the elements, temperature and chemicals.

Therefore, you can safeguard your sensitive skin care from the sun by putting on sunscreen. You can also steer clear of harsh brushes and strongly scented soaps and.detergents. If you feel that you have to use an exfoliant, try making your own. There are plenty of suggestions and recipes on the Internet, but olive oil and brown sugar mixed to a thick paste is a good one.

Try using hypo-allergenic skin care products, because they are normally aimed at people with sensitive skin. Scents and after shaves can be harsh, so it is worth checking the labels before using anything. It is better to read the label before smelling, because then your selection will only be out of perfumes that are suitable for your skin type.

Often sensitive skin care involves killing fungus, yeast and bacteria, therefore, your sensitive skin care cream should include some sort of antibacterial astringent. A bacterial astringent will inhibit bacteria from becoming established.

Regrettably, the onus is on you to make sure that the sensitive skin care products you buy are exactly what they say they are. Government agencies and consumer watchdogs are a huge help, but a lot of products in every category still slip through the regulatory net. The best thing for you to do, is to check every ingredient on the tub’s label of contents on the Internet, before you buy it, but at least before you spread them on.

Once you have looked up the ingredients, write them down in an alphabetized note book. This note book will become a priceless resource in your search for reliable sensitive skin care products.

Finding the Best Houston Tummy Tuck Doctor

Monday, February 28th, 2011

Houston contains an array of high-quality clinics that perform cosmetic surgery of all types. The tummy tuck procedure is a major operation that should be performed only after major consideration of both the patient and doctor. Houston tummy tuck surgery, also called abdominoplasty, is completed by surgically removing excessive skin and fat in the abdominal region. This procedure is major and invasive and requires careful preparation at all phases of the operation.

The most likely candidates for this severe form of elective surgery are persons who have pronounced fat and skin in their lower abdominal area (especially women who have had children or have developed lower ab body fat after their late 20s). The lower body lift may be in order for those persons to recover the tighter or healthier looking lower waist profile of their younger years. Recipients of the tummy tuck report trimmer physiques, and a much happier personal self-image upon flattening out the lower abdomen, particularly if they have tried to produce that result for years through exercise and healthy living alone.

Houston body contouring performed on this magnitude may come at a price, however, usually in the form of significant scarring following completion of the tummy tuck. A long horizontal scar across the waist is usually left by the operation, and remains visible indefinitely following the procedure. The only ways to minimize this is to control how much skin is removed from the midsection. So a tummy tuck requires strong thought concerning how much body improvement is really necessary for a person. If you are undergoing other surgeries, the tuck can even be performed at the same time, resulting in one needing to experience post operation recovery only one time.

You should review the credentials of a plastic surgery clinic offering a Houston tummy tuck before you consider being operated on. In this particular case, ensuring that the surgeon involved carries a certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery would be a very good idea.

You should also verify your surgeon is licensed to practice medicine in the state and has no open cases against them. Talk to your doctor to obtain a workup to determine your own health and other history that may be relevant to deciding about whether to get a lower body lift.

Choosing the Best Houston Liposculpture Doctor

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

Liposuction has several recent updates that are poised to pass traditional procedures in popularity and efficacy. Liposculpture is one of these updates and is gaining in popularity due to the use of less invasive equipment that allow for fat removal with more precision and less complications. Having smaller instruments allows for the operation to be more like sculpting than the other and less exact liposuction procedures. This will also have less impact on the body resulting in faster recovery – usually you can go back to work in two or three days.

Houston liposculpting is most commonly done on the abdominal area because that is the zone of the body most people feel is highly scrutinized. In this case, fat deposits above the abdominal muscles are removed and the physique of the subject improves over the next few weeks as the skin shrinks and tightens near the procedure area. Houston liposculpture allows this to occur more rapidly during the operation because the precision of the instruments used reduces the amount of bruising and scarring in the removal of the adipose.

The most common post-op complain patients have who have undergone liposculpture is the feeling of a second-degree burn. At the same time, most patients also state they benefit from this “vanity” operation. Removing fat which contains many toxins and interferes with healthy circulatory metabolism results in improved heart, liver, and other body functions. Also, removing the unsightly fat and improving the body appearance has a great impact for some patients and gives them a big push to maintain or even step up their exercise program to preserve their new found body.

Houston liposculpture can be beneficial to a person in good health with a good mental state that wants to improve their body. Anyone considering surgery should look at their current medical condition and talk with their doctor to see if it’s the right solution for them, or if lifestyle changes could obviate the need for surgery.

Bad habits like smoking or poor diet would likely need to be addressed prior to surgery to help minimize complications and ensure best results. If it turns out that surgery is a good choice for you, Houston liposculpting is a safe, efficient, and exact way to improve their body.
